Q: What is the My Safe Florida Home program?

A: The My Safe Florida Home program is a state-funded program designed to 1) educate Floridians about their hardness of their homes, 2) help Floridians save money on their windstorm insurance, and 3) help qualifying Floridians obtain up to $5,000.00 in grant money to improve their level of windstorm protection. Thanks to this program, more than 400,000 Floridians will receive free inspections, and more than 35,000 will receive grant monies to harden their homes.


Q: Am I eligible for a free My Safe Florida Home inspection?

A: To be eligible for a free MSFH inspection, the legislation mandates that you must have a single-family, site-built, detached home. That means no duplexes, townhomes, condos, multi-family dwellings, mobile homes or trailers.


Q: I am not eligible. Can I still save money on my windstorm insurance?

A. Absolutely! If you are unfortunately ineligible for a free My Safe Florida Home inspection, you may still be eligible to save money on your wind insurance with a Windstorm Mitigation Inspection that comes with an up to 100% money-back guarantee. Q: I am eligible! What will happen when I sign up?

A: You will receive a call shortly from our My Safe Florida Home reservations department. They will set up an appointment with one of our State-certified inspectors. Within a day or two you will receive your mitigation form, and within 30 days or so you will receive your free My Safe Florida Home report directly from the Program.


Q: I am eligible! Do I have to sign up here?

A: No! There are two ways to sign up on line: 1) Signing up here means that Don Meyler Inspections, one of 6 approved Wind Certification Entities, will come perform your inspection. You will need to fill out an official application for your inspection at the time the inspector visits your home, which will likely be within the next two weeks. 2) However, you may also sign up directly with the State by following the instructions at their website: www.mysafefloridahome.com. When signing up there, if you select D-04 (DMI) as your answer to Question #2, we will also be awarded your inspection within a week or so, and will give you a call. In this case, because you have already applied directly with the State, you will not need to fill out an application again at the time of the inspection. Generally the folks who sign up here get their inspection about one week earlier, on average, than if they apply through the State's web site and select D-04 for Question #2.


Q: I already applied at www.mysafefloridahome.com, by calling the State, or with another company but I haven't been contacted. Can I apply with you?

A: Unfortunately, no. Only one inspection request can be made for a free inspection. If you have already made an inspection request, Don Meyler Inspections will not be permitted to submit your inspection information to the State, so requesting an inspection with Don Meyler Inspections will unfortunately have been a futile exercise.
